Introduction
Fresh microgreens in just one week. Tiny space, big flavour. Perfect for Singapore homes. We’ll walk you through everything, step‑by‑step.
What You'll Need
- Tray – shallow, with drainage holes. Recycled sushi trays are perfect.
- Grow medium – coco peat potting mix
- Seeds – e.g., broccoli, arugula, bak choy, mustard, radish, pea, sunflower
- Spray bottle + lightweight cover (lid or another tray)
- Light – bright window; avoid strong direct sun for too long

Prepare your tray, fluff your coco peat, and choose your seeds
The 7-Day Routine
Day 0 (Night)
- Soak large seeds (pea, sunflower, chard, coriander) for 6–8 hours in tap water.
- Skip soaking tiny seeds (broccoli, radish, kale, arugula, mustard).
Day 1
- Fill tray with medium, level it. Mist until evenly moist, not soggy.
- Sprinkle seeds evenly in a single layer (no heaps). Do not overcrowd seeds. Mist seeds.
- Cover the tray (blackout period). Either add a layer of coco peat on seeds or place another tray on top and add weight on the top tray.

When sowing, seeds should be evenly spread. Peas (left), Radish (right)
Day 2-3
- Keep the tray covered. Peek once daily.
- Mist if the surface feels dry.
- No light yet.
Day 4
- You’ll see pale sprouts. Remove cover + weight (if this method was used).
- Water the germinated seeds. Move tray to an area with natural light (but not direct sunlight).
- Mist morning + evening.

Your seeds should germinate after 2-4 days, depending on the seed variety.
Day 5-6
- Stems straighten; cotyledons (first leaves) open.
- Keep surface just moist.
- If edges dry faster, rotate tray.

Day 7 + (Harvest time)
- Snip just above medium with clean scissors.
- Rinse, spin dry. Store in fridge in a cloth-lined container.

Harvest time! Snip your microgreens just above the soil line
Singapore‑Specific Tips (Beat Heat & Mould)
- Air‑flow is your friend. Open a window or run a small fan on low.
- High humidity? Light misting more often beats heavy misting less often.
- Limit strong direct sun to 2–3 hours — too much leads to quicker wilt.
- Seed density rule: You should still see bits of medium after sowing — avoid a thick 'blanket' of seeds.
